I can’t think of a better way to start my birthday than with a great 6 miler in Central Park.
It cooled of considerably from the past couple of days – the weather Gods were on my side! During this run I came across a woman I see pretty often who is a bit faster than me. I decided to see if I could stay maybe a hundred feet behind her for the whole run and it actually worked quite well! It was a little more challenging than my usual easy run but great – like my own personal rabbit. If you do a lot of solo running like me, try this!
So, today I turn the big 2-8. What’s more, my sister does too, although 8 minutes after I do. Yay, twins!
My fav picture of us! Happy birthday, sister!
Weren’t we cute? If you’re wondering what I want for my birthday, the answer is nothing 🙂 I’m alive and that’s enough for me. However, if I were to receive a gift it would probably be:
I mean…this little guy’s owners are lucky they live a good hour away in Connecticut or else they may have a serious case of puppy-napping on their hands (thanks, Kerry!).
A birthday celebration at work was a great end to the week (and start to the holiday weekend!). The fact that it involved cupcakes made it even better. These weren’t just any cupcakes – they were from Baked by Melissa, an NYC bakery that specializes in teeny tiny cupcakes. These bitesize treats were not much bigger than a quarter, but packed with flavor! Red velvet, peanut butter cup, oreo…mmm. I think the overwhelming favorite was peanut butter and jelly.
Now, you may have already gathered that I’m pretty healthy when it comes to eating. I do think it’s important to splurge every now and again (and what better reason than a birthday!). It’s important to recognize that food not only fuels us, but it’s also an emotional, social and fun part of our lives and is supposed to be enjoyed! So have your favorite treat in celebration of this holiday weekend – guilt free!
