Note to self: sleep deprivation and running out of undereye concealer are not a good combo. Must. Get. Good. Sleep. Before Saturday’s 10K race.
Despite yesterday being only Tuesday, it was pretty stellar. I began the day with a great (and speedy!) 7.5 mile run in Central Park. The cool temps definitely added some spring to my step after the weekend of hellish humidity.
I inhaled breakfast (Nature’s Path Optimum Power/Heritage Flakes combo with almond millk and sliced strawberries) before a photo could be taken. Sorry! Coffee followed. Ditto on the (lack of) photo.
The rest of the day’s food was very “un-Kelly-like,” as some people might say. I always bring my own lunch to work, but today I was tasked with taking a new colleague out. Free food is hard to pass up. I took us to ‘wichcraft, a great NYC sandwich chain started by none other than Tom Colicchio, of Top Chef fame. ‘wichcraft has a great menu of sandwiches and salads, and some tasty looking treats as well.
The Flatiron location on 20th street also has cute outdoor seating on its second level.
I decided on a roasted turkey salad with grapefruit, avocado, radishes and organic greens with a black olive vinaigrette dressing.
It was delicious. I even liked the dressing despite its olive-y-ness (I do NOT like olives). Well done, Tom.
I hydrated with some iced coffee to perk me up for the rest of the day.
Despite being fairly large, that salad did not fill me up so much. A snack of Greek yogurt and pineapple was needed.
I left work at a somewhat reasonable hour in order to get home in time to make myself look cute presentable for dinner out in my ‘hood. 🙂 Land, a Thai restaurant with both Upper East and West locations, seemed like a good idea (right, D?) It kind of was…
I got the wok charred squid, ordered a “medium” on the spicyness scale. I’m not sure what “hot” is, but holy lord this was spicy. The dish was good, just really effing hot. My Sapporo (light) was delicious, yet did not help to extinguish the fire “situation” happening in my mouth.
Enter a frozen treat.
Instead of waiting in line at Pinkberry with every high schooler on the Upper East Side, some Only 8 chocolate frozen yogurt was enjoyed from a great healthy fast food joint called Healthalicious. I went topping-less on this one, but it was pretty tasty. A great night, overall 🙂
Question: What gets you through the day on little sleep? (little help, please!)
Question: What’s your favorite kind of fro-yo? Any toppings?
