Is it me or has it been one of the longest weeks ever in life? AGH. At least it’s Friday, yeah?
Yesterday was my last run before tomorrow’s 10K race – an easy 6 miler in Central Park. Here’s hoping that this cool morning weather will stick it out for the race (fingers crossed).
My run was followed by Nature’s Path Optimum Power/Heritage flakes with sliced strawberries and almond milk.
I multitasked by icing various aching body parts and watching a 13-year-old girl say a heinously inappropriate word twice on the Today Show. Yikes – I think Meredith was in shock.
I continued to multitask by having some coffee and checking e-mails.
Work beckoned and the day started to fly by, per usual. Lunch was eerily similar to some of my previous posts (PB&J on whole wheat, Greek yogurt, pineapple) and eaten at my desk while working on many pressing items. Again, today was an excellent example of my multitasking abilities 🙂
Work (kind of) ended and I picked up my bib, t-shirt, and great goodies for Saturday’s NYRR Mini 10K race.
Seriously nice job, NYRR! The swag included a quality canvas bag, nice sized shirt (read: made for women), and some samples from Dove with another little bag. AND, I’m in the red corral (woohoo) thanks to no fast boys being allowed to run this race 🙂
The Mini 10K is the oldest women-only race in the country (at least I’m pretty sure), and this year is extra exciting because Kara Goucher and Paula Radcliffe are running.
These ladies are my running idols, and since they are both 5 months preggo and not “racing” this one, I’m hoping I just may run into them during the race. Well, wishful thinking right?
I whipped up a quick dinner while doing some work from home – greens, cucumbers, tomato, ground turkey, bell peppers and carrots with hummus and a whole wheat pita is becoming my favorite summer go to dinner.
This was followed by some more work from home and another favorite combo of mine – Greek yogurt with Peanut Butter & Co Dark Chocolate Dreams. Seriously, this stuff is like crack it’s so good.
My pre-race day plan for Friday is some easy a.m. yoga, decent fueling throughout the day and taking it easy tonight. Since the race doesn’t start until 9:00 a.m. tomorrow (seriously, why so late, NYRR??), I’ll have plenty of time for coffee and breakfast before getting myself to Columbus Circle and the starting line. I do have a time goal for this race, and hopefully the weather cooperates and doesn’t derail all of my hard work this past month!
Race report will come tomorrow, and I wish everyone running tomorrow luck! Happy Friday!
Question: How are you at multitasking?
Question: What’s your favorite racing distance? I actually don’t like 10K’s much, but am trying to change that!
