Today is my Friday! I’m taking tomorrow off to spend time with my sis, who is visiting for a fun-filled weekend (yay!).
My legs are still a bit toasted from last weekend’s racing and running (I definitely took too long to fuel after the race), but slowly getting back to normal. An easy ~6 on Tuesday was followed by a great ~7.5 miles on Wednesday morning. Central Park gets so busy in the summer months, even at 5:30 a.m.! I did some decent XT on the spin bike and elliptical this morning (even though I really wanted to run!).
After my Wednesday run, I refueled with Nature’s Path Optimum Power/Oatbran Flakes, organic raspberries and almond milk.
Coffee soon followed. I think I’m becoming immune to my usual two mugs, as my brain still felt a bit fuzzy until after I arrived at work.
Work was, as usual, insanely busy, so I enjoyed a giant salad full of stuff at my desk for lunch. I made this the night before while I was making dinner – convenient and time-saving! The salad has arugula, mixed greens, red/green/yellow bell peppers, carrots, broccoli, cucumber, plum tomato, chickpeas, sweet potato, goat cheese and a few pieces of ground turkey.
During the afternoon, I snacked on Trader Joe’s Organic Animal Crackers (love these!).
Plans for dinner and drinks got me through the rest of the day, and we met up at a Spanish tapas spot called Boqueria, which has locations in SoHo and the Flatiron district.
After waiting more than an hour for our table (seriously – so hungry I was ready to eat the bartender), we were seated and immmediately provided with complimentary bruschetta and meat for our troubles.
We ordered a selection of meats and cheeses for our table, which was delicous!
The selection of tapas was amazing, and our choices included grilled octopus, Spanish meatballs, duck egg with hashbrown-like potatoes and crispy artichoke with arugula and goat cheese.
I only snapped a shot of the artichokes (sorry!) – my brain tends to malfunction when starved. The amount of food was perfect for five people and everything was really tasty, but I wouldn’t go back to Boqueria because of the craptastic service. Besides that, a fun night was had!
Overall, this was a pretty decent hump day. 🙂 Happy almost-weekend!
Question: How do you get over hump day?
