If you read my blog, you know I’ve been whining about having to work all weekend for a good couple of days. I’m happy to report it was fairly painless, depite the a/c being M.I.A. in our building, and even some fun was had.
On Saturday I actually took a rest day, and am still alive and breathing 🙂 I hate rest days – they make me feel sluggish and cranky – but this one was a good idea because I felt great during my 7.5 miler early this morning (I think I’m finally used to the humidity!).
Despite the early hour (5:30 a.m. on a Sunday!) the park was full of NYRR crew members getting ready for the Achilles Hope & Possibility 5 mile Race. According to reports, Prince Harry made a guest appearance to walk the race with wounded veterans. Nice job, mate!
While running up Cat Hill, I also saw one of my favorite morning acquaintances – an older gentleman who goes on early morning walks in the park and ALWAYS says the most cheerful “good morning!” to me as I run by. This morning, he also said, “I’m keeping at it! Maybe we’ll finish at the same time!” Just adorable. His great energy just made my day 🙂 We need more people like him in the world.
Anyways, Starbucks has been instrumental during this endless workweek.
So has cool treats (no A/C, remember?)
I enjoyed a black raspbery sorbet pop….mmm
Modern office equipped with cable and flatscreens (sorry U.S. & England).
And, to top it off, a birdseye view of the annual NYC Pride Parade.
Work was definitely done in between this fun, don’t worry. 🙂
I also managed to make a quick trip to Whole Foods where I got some basic necessities: bananas, greens, sweet peppers, almond milk, yogurt, peanut butter, cherries (on sale – WIN!) and cereal.
I think I keep Whole Foods in business with the amount of cereal I buy (and consume) 🙂
Hope your weekend was great!
