I hope my post yesterday was convincing in terms of sounding like I had my shiz together regarding the impromptu injury. I *may* have had a meltdown or two when trying (and not succeeding) to find a new sports doc that treated ankles while watching my own blow up like a balloon.
Then I lucked out and found a great place called Manhattan Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Group, and a great doc that was a triathlete and ironman competitor himself.
I don’t know about you, but having a sports doc that either is an athlete or was an athlete is crucial to me – they seem to understand our mindset so much more. So, Dr. Klion took X-rays (negative), and gave me an air cast with instructions not to run for at least a week, when I go back for a check-up.
It was weird waking up this morning and not heading out to the park, but the ankle is feeling better already! Still swollen and such, but I can walk ok. I stretched and did some core/strength stuff this a.m., and the plan is some yoga tomorrow, spin bike this weekend and maybe a little elliptical before I go back to the docs on Wednesday. Oh, and lots of icing 🙂
Doc said I can definitely resume training soon and not to worry – there’s plenty of time before NYCM! So, I’m definitely down at the moment, but not out in the least.
Since I worked from home yesterday, eats were enjoyed while sitting uncomfortably at my laptop all the livelong day.
Turkey on whole wheat with cukes, romaine and Weber’s horseradish mustard and cherries
A few Kitchen Sink cookies and a Dove dark chocolate with a special message…
Don’t stress, think, and this too shall pass. Well, if Dove says everything will be ok, then it must, yeah?
Dinner was simple – veggies, hummus and half a whole wheat pita, followed by Greek yogurt with PB&Co Dark Chocolate Dreams mixed in
I guess I’ll take advantage of this unplanned downtime – if I”m being totally honest, the legs have been pretty sore lately. So hopefully, they’ll thank me later when I’m back at it (soon!) 🙂
Question: What’s your favorite “unplanned downtime” activity?
