Ok, this post has little to do with running or food, but I promise it’s almost as exciting. Plus I cross trained at the gym today, and that’s kinda boring 🙂
I’ve mentioned a few times that Manhattan has just got its very own Target, and one of the things on my to do list for August was to check it out. When I think of Target, not only do excellent prices and huge variety come to mind, but also:
The Target Lady! Quite possibly one of the best SNL characters of all time. If you do not know who this is, please do me a favor and click here. I couldn’t get the video to embed in the bloggy, for some reason.
And for the remainder of this post, please read in the voice of the Target Lady (scented candles! choco-laate! allllllmonds!).
God I love her.
Anyways, on Sunday morning I headed to our new Target in Harlem (116th and Pleasant Ave.) to see what all the hype was about.
Getting there was a smidge annoying, as I could have crawled there faster than waiting for the First Ave. bus. All was forgotten once I got there – it’s huge!
And it smelled like a Target (y’all know what I’m talkin’ about) – this smell is usually only experienced (by me) during twice-yearly trips to my hometown in the ‘burbs of Western New York. And it was so clean and organized! Just lovely.
In addition to being ginormous, the Target also sported an extremely decent grocery section, complete with fresh produce and frozen foods. I got some bananas (19 cents/ea.) – I’ll let you know how they are!
Another great thing about Target is the variety! I mean, where else can you find stuff to furnish, decorate and clean the house whilst also getting things that will feed, clothe, bathe and entertain yourself and your family?
I left Target with a truly random array of useful and affordable loot, which included:
- Toilet paper (ok, this was a little much, but it was on SALE, yo!)
- Oral hygiene products
- Picture frames
- Unmentionables 🙂
And I wanted twice as much stuff. Another thing on my list is to redecorate my apartment…hmmmm…
The Target Lady approves!
So, even though my check-out girl didn’t have a voice like Kermit the Frog or a bowl haircut, she was perfectly competent 🙂 Needless to say, I’ll be visiting again very soon.
Question: Do you share my love for Target (or just the Target Lady?)?
