This week has definitely been a challenging one, but I’m actually feeling pretty optimistic about the recent happenings in life. Some advice that Jess gave me a few days ago has really stuck with me:
When you’re dealing with a big change or a hard time, treat yourself like a new pet.
A little pampering, yoga, or lunch with a friend. And for me, definitely a run.
6.5 pain-free, easy miles in Central Park during a gorgeous pinky-orange sunrise.
The run and Achilles felt great, and I have clearance from my PT to give up to 7-ish miles a try this weekend. Hooray for progress!
Treating yourself like a new pet was great advice for someone like me – I tend to be a bit hard on myself, especially in situations like the one I’m going through when it’s easy to feel like a failure. Trying to be extra nice to myself this week helps remind me that I still deserve everything I’ve got and everything I want, you know?
One of my coworkers sensed I needed some cheering up:
She knows me so well. Homemade Greek yogurt with cranberries and almonds from a teeny Greek restaurant on the Upper West Side called Anthi’s.
They can also mix in fig, apricot and all sorts of delicious fruits and nuts. It was AMAZEBALLS, and I think I just may need to try every combination they have.
Question: What cheers you up when you’re feelin’ down or need a pick-me-up?
