Thank you SO MUCH for all of your sweet, amazing comments to my last post. The interview went well – now all I can do is cross my fingers until early April when the decisions are made!

I know I’ve been complaining a lot lately about my stubborn Achilles (heh, or maybe it’s just me that’s the stubborn one…), and in light of so many happenings this week it feels especially lame.

On Tuesday, professional runner Sally Meyerhoff, 27, was killed while riding her bike in Arizona.

Not only was she a top marathoner with an amazing future ahead of her, but she seemed like a great, positive person (as evidenced by her blog). Just reading her last post, just two days before the accident, is heartbreaking, and I know the running world has had her in their thoughts this week.

On Friday we all woke to the news of the awful devastation in Japan, and either worried for ourselves, friends or family anywhere near the Pacific and West Coast areas because of the widespread tsunami warnings.

It’s amazing how people’s lives can change or end in an instant, and times like these really puts things in perspective.

Can’t run because of some Achilles pain? So what. It’ll heal, and I should be damn thankful for every stride once the time comes.

And thankful I was this morning, when I went for another test run in Central Park. The Achilles felt great, and even though I didn’t want to stop, called it a day after 6.5 easy miles.

It’s still the longest I’ve run since the injury, and I’m definitely trying to be careful and keep the mileage low. My sports doc finally convinced me (yeah, I said I was stubborn, right?) that some physical therapy may help me get over this last hump of the injury, so that’s the plan for the next month or so. We’ll see how it goes!

Breakfast was the usual weekend fare – Ezekiel sprouted grain cinnamon raisin toast with natural peanut butter and berries

I’m technically on spring break right now (or, “springbreakwoohoo!” as Chandler from Friends prefers…), but since the company I work for doesn’t really recognize spring break (oh, the real world…), much of my weekend will likely still involve studying and a few assignments.

Though in proper “springbreakwoohoo” fashion, I definitely plan on getting out and enjoying the city a little more than I usually do this week.

Question: How do current events like the ones going on now change your perspective? On a lighter note, best place you’ve gone on spring break? I’d have to say a trip to a small island in South Carolina with my pal Meghan was my favorites.
