This week has been long and tiring. My classes end pretty late (one past my bedtime, actually), so once Friday comes around I’m usually beat.
But you know, Friday needs to be celebrated. When my friend Natalie, an RD and fellow Clinical Nutrition Master’s student, asked if I wanted to celebrate the end of the week at the new 16 Handles in the ‘hood, I thought in my head “perfect.”
Fro-yo is a lovely way to ring in the weekend, yes?
And 16 Handles is bananas amazing. You “pour” your own fro-yo from a selection of delicious flavors.
After a few taste tests, I settled on peanut butter and red velvet cake. The toppings bar is also “serve yourself,” which I loved!
Red velvet fro-yo with cheesecake bites, peanut butter fro-yo with mini peanut butter cups
Perfection, and I do believe the peanut butter flavor rivaled that of Forty Carrots – very hard to pull off. 16 Handles also charges for yogurt by weight, so you pay for exactly what you get. Pinkberry, shminkberry.
Question: How do you like to ring in the weekend? Do like to go out on Friday nights, or chill out after a busy week?
I LOVE self serve fro you! There are so many places near me… I don’t go as often as I would like!
i like the weight places better!!! so agreed with you on that!.. i usually like to chill on friday and go out on saturday!
We have to go here.
Haha I used to hate places that charged by the weight! I always ended up spending WAY too much! 😛
Friday nights are TOTALLY my chill nights! I love relaxing on Friday evenings 🙂
Oooooh that looks divine. We don’t have a pinkberry OR a 16 handles and I’m feeling particularly cheated right about now.
Now that’s how you welcome the weekend! I’ve never been to a Froyo place that weighs toppings or looks that freaking amazing but there’s a Menchies near by that I really wanna go to 🙂
ahh sixteen handles. i used to live two blocks from there, and my roomie was OBSESSED. like, for real. i prefer stogo around the corner, but the whole serve yourself thing can be fun… or dangerous!
in regards to weekends: normally i’m a crazy eater/ drinker/ party-party girl, but last night i stayed in, cooked tofu and watched a movie with little ole me. with maybe two small glasses of white wine. bizarre, i know.
that sounds really good! it’s not really going out, 🙂 but I celebrate the end of the week with my daughter by picking out a treat after school on Friday. in the summer it’s usually ice cream, but lately it’s been cupcakes.
I have a place by me called Yogurtland which is the same thing, serve yourself toppings!!! It doesn’t get any better 🙂

That looks just like my favorite froyo place! I love the self-serve.
That looks like a slice of heaven, I LOVE the self serve places! Um…now I suddenly need to go to the froyo shop.
16 handles looks like PURE heaven to me!!
Friday night, I am ready to pull on comfy seats and chill with the hubs! I’m such a homebody!
16 Handles is my heaven…they’re opening one up on the UWS this spring and I am counting down the days! My only problem, I like ALL the toppings and can regularly spend $8-$10 on a little yogurt treat. Oh well, it’s tasty!
I find I like one night to go out on weekends, and one night to stay in! It usually ends up being Friday staying in since I’m beat from the workweek, and Saturday going out. I just feel old when I fall asleep at like 11 on a Friday night. Wahh.
EVERY weekend should be kicked off with a fro-yo run! 🙂
yummmmmm!
I hope youre having a great Sunday girlie!
xoxo!
I am with you! By Friday I am so beat that laying on the couch watching movies and eating ice cream sounds more appealing to me than anything. That froyo places looks awesome – red velvet cake froyo? Yum!
i tend to like to chill on friday night and then go all out on saturdays. it used to be the other way around but after starting to work 40 hour weeks i am beat by friday. this weekend was the exception because i NEEDED to go out after work hahah
Tonight I ate fro yo in bed, because it was soooo cold and I wanted to be warm! I loved it!
I love self-serve froyo! In fact, I’ve really been craving it for dinner. Hehe. Maybe it’s the tropical weather (aka 40 degrees) we’ve been blessed with?
I thought it was a perfect ending to a busy week….as did the 8 year olds that showed up at 9:30 🙂 oh well….happy I could introduce you to an awesome froyo place so close to your apt!
I totally did absolutely nothing on my friday night. and that frozen yogurt looks SO GOOD. I’m jealous.
